Kids are always looking for new party ideas, and parents are always looking for easy kids birthday party ideas. We have five really fun kids birthday party themes that will be sure to impress your kids and their friends! These include a camping theme, space party, ninja warrior theme, narwhal theme or a tea-party themed kids’ birthday celebration.

Camping Party Theme

The kids camping party is perfect for kids who like to get out into nature. A cute “glamping” set up with tents and inflatable beds for a sleepover can be a great alternative for those cold months. To make your own campfire (ok it’s really just twinkle lights and tissue paper), check out this tutorial on how to make a fake fire for your party aesthetic. Serve up some classic campfire foods like hot dogs, s’mores and roasted marshmallows. Don’t forget to break out the hiking boots and scary stories for a truly authentic camping party experience!

Outer Space Party Theme

If your kids are more of the indoor type, why not throw them a space-themed birthday? This is perfect for kids who love all things outer-space and rocket ships. You can easily transform your kids’ party into a rocket launch pad with some simple decor and theming. For example, check out this set on Amazon (also pictured below) which includes balloons and tablecloths for your party setup.  For ideas on what to serve the kids when it comes to birthday cake during this space-themed kids birthday party, take a look at this idea on Martha Stewart’s website.  All you need is some food coloring and you can create a stunning galaxy cake.  Then serve the kids’ birthday cake next to your dessert table setup for an intergalactic party feel!

Ninja Warrior Party

How about throwing your kids a ninja warrior themed kids birthday party? The best part of this kids birthday party theme is that you really don’t need to do much to set the scene. Just put up some ninja warrior-themed decorations like these and you’re good to go! Serve up some easy kids party food like chicken nuggets or mini pizzas, and for drinks have everyone choose their favorite martial arts themed drink.  Or you can opt to have the party at maybe a trampoline park or even an actual ninja warrior venue this way games and activities are taken care of and you just have to bring some items to go with the theme!

Tea Party Birthday Theme

Last but not least, let’s talk about a kids birthday tea-party theme! This one is great for little kids, boys and girls.  As you can see pictured above, you can have the attendees come dressed as little gents and ladies!  The great thing about this kids’ birthday party theme is that you can make it incredibly simple and chic or you can go all out, but either way it is a timeless classic theme.  Whichever way you go about preparing, it will be elegant and fun.

So there you have it, five really fun kids birthday party themes to choose from!

This tablescape is from a couple of years ago but it is still one of my favorite ideas. For this setup, rather than using place cards I used a roll of craft paper and a white sharpie paint pen. I wrote the guest name first sort of centered and than drew the lines around the charger. Some pumpkins, battery operated tea lights, and fresh flowers completed the look. I don’t like tall arrangements on my table because it annoys me when I can’t see everyone on the other side of the table ☺.

Name Card Printed on Gold Cardstock

Thanksgiving Table Ideas

These name cards were printed on a Reflections Rose Gold Cardstock that I purchased from Michaels. The template was a free download from Bloom Designs that I found here. And I just basically printed them out on my inkjet printer. The most important thing is to let them dry out for a long time so you don’t smudge them when you’re cutting them. They were a favorite at our table and looked pretty combined with the charges and plaid placemats.

Family Photos for Guests Seats

This idea was from a gallery on the Country Living website with ideas for place cards and it was definitely my favorite. Use family pictures at each setting to guide guests to their seats. What I love about this is it can be a fun time for everyone to reminisce about old family photos.

Eucalyptus Garland

This tablescape from @hortonlane_ on IG was also featured in Good Housekeeping. I love the simple and clean look of this setup and plan to incorporate pieces into my table this year for sure. The white pumpkins with the beautiful eucalyptus garland and burlap have a rustic yet comfy vibe that I love.

Let us know which of these, if any are your favorite. Or if you have a gorgeous tablescape that we should feature send it over to us at info@sprinklesnspunk.com

Halloween is quickly approaching so we’ve gathered 5 great ideas that we found while scouring the internet that can make your festivities and Halloween planning easy breezy, lime and squeezy. Our criteria for these 5 Halloween party ideas is they have to be quick, but look awesome!

5 Ways To Make Halloween Planning Easy-Slideshow

Here you can quickly take a look at the ideas we’re featuring in the rest of this blog post.

  • Halloween Ideas

Halloween Glow Stick Balloons

This idea from sheknows.com is so cute and will look awesome for your Halloween night celebration. You only need 3 items (white latex balloons, glow sticks and black permanent marker) and you’re set!

Spider Light Centerpiece

Another light up decoration that is super simple, but looks haunting and creepy. For these you only need 4 items (wide mouth jars, battery operated white lights, spider web & spiders). You can add them to your table, line a pathway with them or put them on the deck for your nighttime Halloween celebration. They look awesome and easy to do.

Spooky Halloween Party Cups

Another quick idea that looks awesome and you only need 2 things! Googly eyes and black drinking cups and now you have spooky cups for your Halloween party. This Halloween party idea is probably the quickest one we found and yet adds some fun flair to your Halloween celebration while making your Halloween planning a breeze!

Monster Door

Monster Door Decoration

A quick way to greet your guests, a monster door! This idea uses 3 items (green, black and white streamers, paper plates and black construction paper). Tape them up to the door and you’ve got a great way to greet your guests or trick or treaters.

Witch’s Hat Cupcakes

Our final quick idea is for those delicious treats. In this post from balancingmotherhood.com she uses Wilton color spray, but I was thinking you could also try using oreo sugar cones too. Saves a step of having to spray the cones black, but either way you can make these on the quick and they look so cute.

Thanksgiving 2020 may be different from years past, but it doesn’t have to be devoid of the typical holiday comforts that we love and cherish. This year our Thanksgiving entertaining may be for a smaller group, or for just your immediate family and here are 5 Thanksgiving entertaining ideas to keep your celebration alive and memorable.

1) Schedule Virtual Time With Your Family & Friends

This year if you’re not going to be spending time with family or friends outside of your household then schedule some virtual time with them. It will keep your spirits up and speaking of spirits, you can even make it special by scheduling pre or post-dinner drinks. Everyone makes some cocktails or pours a glass of wine and then cozies up to their iPad or phone to digitally check in. Or you could set aside a special appetizer time where everyone gets together to set aside a little time to see your family and friends that you may not get to see this year in person.

I’ve been investigating the Facebook portal for this very reason to see if it would be a better tool to connect with digitally. It says on the website that the camera will follow and automatically zoom in/out which would be a great feature to have. Anyone have experience with the FB portal? Let me know in the comments below.

2) Thanksgiving Games

Ok, Thanksgiving entertaining ideas #2. So because of all the planning and work that goes into the holiday itself, any of the extras like this need to be quick and easy. So here are a couple of the games that I find to be just that. Of course you can make them a little more complicated, which is easy for me to do, but I chose these based on the idea that I could prepare them in under 10 minutes.

Thanksgiving Charades

All you will need for this game is a list of Thanksgiving words, which you can easily do a google search on and find many many free printables, and a timer. All the words go into a bowl and each person takes a turn acting out the word they select. Whomever guesses before the timer than takes a turn.

Sweet Potato Race

Simply take a spoon and a sweet potato and have each person roll their sweet potato in a race to the finish line.

Turkey Scavenger Hunt

This is a printable game I found where you hide the numbers around the yard and the kids have to go out and hunt to find them all to win a prize. Quick setup that will get them outside and running around for a little bit.

Roll A Turkey

Here is a free printable for a dice game. All you need to do is print out the game cards, get some m&m’s and a set of dice.

DIY Turkey Tag

This is another great game to get the family outside to burn some energy. Turkey tag involves painted clothespins, and if you want to go the extra mile you can make the clothespins into turkeys which involves adding googly eyes and foam beaks. Each person gets three clothespins and the goal is to grab all three off of someone else to get them out. Check it out over here.

3) Bloody Mary Bar

What’s the first thing you should do after putting the turkey in the oven? That’s right! Throw together a bloody mary bar. I love this idea of having a fun way to kick off the day while you’re all gathering around to watch the parade. This can be as easy and simple as you want it to be and here are some ideas to get you started.

4) Movie Marathon

If you’re spending time with just the people in your household this year and hunkering down for Thanksgiving then why not make it a movie binge day. Pick a theme, Terminator, Die Hard, Harry Potter, Christmas Movies, anything like that and plan a whole day and schedule around watching your favorites. Prep snacks, get comfy, and plan to just run a marathon of favorites for your turkey day.

5) Create some art TOGETHER

Again, for me it has to be quick and easy to set up, so here are some of the craft ideas that fit my no hassle guidelines.

Thanksgiving Coloring Placemats

Something that I can set the little ones up with and then let them be. I don’t have to go through any instructions and when they’re done we can use them as placemats. Love this idea.

Tree of Thanks Craft Kit

This requires some instruction but I love the idea of everyone working on a tree and reflecting on the things we are thankful for.

Turkey Necklace Craft

I thought this just looked really cute, something they could work on and use their own creativity to design the necklace they want.

If you have any Thanksgiving entertaining ideas please list them below in the comments, we’d love to hear what you might be planning.

Find a fall color palette that will suit your favorite color combinations.

Fall time ushers in a new set of hues and colors that are cozy and comforting. Between the essence of foliage and the coming holiday celebrations it reminds me of home and hearth. Here we’ve selected some fall color palettes that not only bring in some unique hues to the typical fall colors but also represents all the comforts that the change of the season brings. We also added in some fright night colors to represent the fun haunts of the fall.

Some of the ways you can use these color ideas are in your fall home decor. Flower arrangements utilizing the selected colors can add a pop to your fall table or to your front porch. Or if you’re creating a diy project and just need some ideas on colors you can use these ideas to bring your creation together. The perfect fall color palette is not just about the browns and creams that are more traditional, but more so about embracing all the colors of fall as you see in the pink and deep red leaves. The grays and cool blues that are reminiscent of the deeper fall sky and the warmth of cozy socks and blankets. And then the fearful and moody colors of Halloween.

I start my process of inspiration with my favorites pictures of the season and see how they combine colors and create moods. I use those colors to start building a scheme around and go from there. Let us know where you derive your fall color palette inspiration from by commenting below.

Le Mini Macaron Review

After doing a bunch of research on at home nail gel kits I decided to go with the Le Mini Macaron kit.  I purchased my fairy floss kit from Harmon and gave it a whirl.  The reason I choose this product is because unlike the other at home gel kits, this one is only 2 coats.  There isn’t a base coat, color and then top coat.  It’s a thin base coat, cure for 30 seconds, and then a second coat, cure for 30 seconds and you’re done!

Because it’s a simpler system, I was concerned mostly about how long the color would last on my nails.  Regular nail polish will last me maybe a day or two before it will start chipping in spots.  The second thing I was considering was how long the manicure was going to take.  The mini kit can only cure 1 nail at a time and I didn’t want to invest in the bigger size that can cure your hand if I ended up not liking the product.  So it seemed to me that curing 1 nail at a time would be tedious, especially for two coats, and could take a long time.

I watched their online video tutorials on how to properly use the kit and one of the things that was very important was to file the nail a little bit.  But very gently of course, you don’t want your nail to be shiny, but you also don’t want to damage your nails.  So I did my prep, push back the cuticle and cut them.  Filed my nails a little bit and I used acetone to make sure that my nails were cleaned and prepped for the polish.  Your first coat needs to be a very thin layer.  This was a little weird for me because I’m used to regular polish and applying a generous coat.  But with this product you do not want to do that, you need a thinner coat in order for it to adhere better to you nails.  You do the first coat and then place your finger in the little macaron and cure for 30 seconds.  You push the button on top of your macaron, and it will automatically shut off after 30 seconds.  One thing I didn’t realize was the macaron needs to be connected to power in order to work.  I thought for some reason that you could charge it, but this is not the case.  So the usb needs to be plugged in.  I ended up using my power bank the second time I painted my nails and it worked great.

The Results…

I love the Le Mini Macaron kit! Since there is no drying time after, the whole process of curing for 30 seconds after each coat was quick and easy!  My manicure took way way way less time, especially since it was really just 2 coats and done.  I also was using a light pink color and usually with my regular polish I sometimes need to do 3 coats when it’s a light color.

As far as how long it lasted…I had a couple of small chips, but I had scrubbed the bathroom with a scrubby sponge and this would normally cause my regular manicure to completely chip off.  With my increased hand washing and cleaning that week, this product held up great.  It had chipped a little bit, but nothing that was too noticeable.  I ended up re-doing it on day 8 because my nails tend to grow quickly so the nail bed growth was pretty noticeable.  So overall, really great kit, easy to use and held up better than I had expected.

I loved Le Mini Macaron so much I purchased the remover clips, two more colors, the kitticorn magic powder set, and the matte topcoat.  You can see all the colors and products they offer here. It’s been 43 days since our family has been on lockdown (but who’s counting) and the kids have been out of school. Sometimes I still can’t believe that this is going on, but for the past week I’ve been thinking about how there will truly be a new normal in the foreseeable future and how I’m going to deal with that and what the new normal is going to look like for my entire family. While pondering all this, I’ve started collecting and organizing my favorite ideas and activities to do with the kids during quarantine.

I went to business school, I’m not a teacher. But ultimately I want them to have fun still and do different things. I’ve come to realize that they love doing activities and are probably missing them since school ended. This situation is not like summer where we get to go on various outings. That’s me, I’m the outing mom that will take them anywhere for a fun little adventure. Trying to figure out what to do while we’re confined to our home has me 🙄🙄🙄.

Some things are just way too complicated for me to fathom and some just maybe aren’t my style. Here are some of the ideas that I love though and are EASY EASY EASY activities for kids to do. As I find new ones I’ll be sure to update this list.

Alphabet Scavenger Hunt

I saw this idea on Raising Dragons a great website with different ideas from a engineer mom who isn’t particularly crafty. I think that’s why I love the projects she has because they are quick and easy, completely my style. In this activity, you use sticky notes, a marker and objects from around the house. You have the kids find things around the house that begin with each letter of the alphabet. Perfect for a rainy day and super easy! It also takes up a good bit of time which is helpful during these times of what seem to be never ending quarantine.

Meditation & Drawing Time

So on one of the early days I did this and it was a really great morning actually and a great way to start our day…for ALL OF US. I’ve never been able to consistently get in to the habit of meditating, but maybe I can start getting my kids in to it.

The guided meditation we did was from “New Horizon Meditation & Sleep Stories”, Your Secret Treehouse. It’s about 15 minutes of meditation that we did together and then after the boys drew their dream treehouse. My oldest drew his dream treehouse as blueprints which I loved because it was a different approach he thought of himself.

Egg Hunt

I know Easter is over with, but if you have some eggs still lying around, hide them in the yard if it’s nice out or inside the house if it’s a rainy day. If you have more than 1 child have them take turns hiding them while the other(s) look for the eggs. That keeps them entertained by themselves for a decent amount of time!

Have a Karaoke Night

If you have an Apple TV it’s super easy to set this up, but otherwise you can pretty much google search music lyrics if not. The iTunes app on the Apple TV though will automatically play and scroll through the music lyrics so you can host your own Karaoke Night. This is definitely one of our favorite activities where everyone gets to choose their song and perform for the rest of us. We also have a signing machine as well, but if you don’t have one of those a hairbrush can be just as effective.

Make a Vision Board

I ask my kids a lot about what they want to do or where they want to go once restrictions are lifted. It gets them excited and lifts their spirits up a little bit so I think creating a vision board together is a great way to get everyone excited about the future rather than getting down about being on hold right now. Cut out pictures of vacations you may want to take. Movies you want to see. Summer activities they want to do. Put all the pictures on a large piece of poster board and hang it somewhere the family can see so everyone can stay focused and excited about the fun times ahead.

Make Movie Night at Home Extra Special

Now when we all sit down to watch a movie we make it a special event since we can’t go to theaters right now. We make popcorn in individual brown bags, everyone picks out their candy boxes, we put sleeping bags on the floor with a bunch of pillows. You can have the kids make up tickets to the movie, you can make cotton candy, or do an ice cream sundae bar. Lots of movies are being watched right now so when it comes to the new releases, make it a little bit more of a special time.

Interesting Balloon Garland Ideas

Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means that at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase.

I love adding a balloon garland to my party decoration list.  They are easy to make and are really eye catching.  You don’t need helium and if you have enough time for set up at your party location, you can do them easily at the spot.  Saving you from having to transport the balloons.

Below I’ve put together some of my tips on creating your garland and some ideas I’ve found that you can incorporate into your garland.

Using a Garland Strip

Ok, so I’ve used the garland strip, there’s actually a link* to the one I purchased on Amazon below.  I definitely recommend this one as I was able to get 4 parties from this one strip I purchased.  What I like about the strip is that it is super easy to use and the balloons stay on the strip pretty well.  The balloon decorating strip is also helpful in creating small bunches that you can hang at different focal points of your party (take a look at the colorful example below).

I haven’t yet tried the string method, where you use fishing line or something that is almost clear to create your garland.  I will definitely do an update once I have though to provide my thoughts, but from the videos I’ve watched it does appear that the string method is a little more versatile in the how you can re-arrange the balloons after they’ve been attached.  With the garland, I’ve had to pull balloons out and re-attach them to fix the color sequences.

Adding Artificial Flowers

One way to really dress up your balloon garland is to add artificial flowers to it.  You can add palm leaves to add a nice green pop of color and tropical feeling like the white and gold arrangement pictured below.  You can even add leaves to yellow balloons so they resemble lemons to get a really summery, bright look to your balloon garland.

Accenting with unique balloons

Get creative with your garland!  There are so many unique balloons that you can incorporate in to your garland design.  For example you can add confetti balloons, globe balloons, or even peppermint balloons like in the picture above.

Creating A Character Themed Garland

spiderman superhero balloon garland

If you’re party involves a superhero character or cartoon character, design your garland around those colors.

Incorporating Paper Flowers

Combining your garland with some beautiful paper flowers makes for an elegant combination.  It takes your color scheme to another level by adding that pop and additional texture.  It adds more visual appeal and interest to a photo backdrop or dessert table background.
