I love adding a balloon garland to my party decoration list. They are easy to make and are really eye catching. You don’t need helium and if you have enough time for set up at your party location, you can do them easily at the spot. Saving you from having to transport the balloons.
Below I’ve put together some of my tips on creating your garland and some ideas I’ve found that you can incorporate into your garland.
Using a Garland Strip
Ok, so I’ve used the garland strip, there’s actually a link* to the one I purchased on Amazon below. I definitely recommend this one as I was able to get 4 parties from this one strip I purchased. What I like about the strip is that it is super easy to use and the balloons stay on the strip pretty well. The balloon decorating strip is also helpful in creating small bunches that you can hang at different focal points of your party (take a look at the colorful example below).
I haven’t yet tried the string method, where you use fishing line or something that is almost clear to create your garland. I will definitely do an update once I have though to provide my thoughts, but from the videos I’ve watched it does appear that the string method is a little more versatile in the how you can re-arrange the balloons after they’ve been attached. With the garland, I’ve had to pull balloons out and re-attach them to fix the color sequences.
Adding Artificial Flowers
One way to really dress up your balloon garland is to add artificial flowers to it. You can add palm leaves to add a nice green pop of color and tropical feeling like the white and gold arrangement pictured below. You can even add leaves to yellow balloons so they resemble lemons to get a really summery, bright look to your balloon garland.
Accenting with unique balloons
Get creative with your garland! There are so many unique balloons that you can incorporate in to your garland design. For example you can add confetti balloons, globe balloons, or even peppermint balloons like in the picture above.
Creating A Character Themed Garland
If you’re party involves a superhero character or cartoon character, design your garland around those colors.
Incorporating Paper Flowers
Combining your garland with some beautiful paper flowers makes for an elegant combination. It takes your color scheme to another level by adding that pop and additional texture. It adds more visual appeal and interest to a photo backdrop or dessert table background.
